The publication Pharmacy Management has been available free of charge to Pharmacists in Primary and Secondary Care for a period of 25 years.

Since the early beginnings of the journal the organisation has developed into a provider of education and information to the profession via a number of different communication channels - National Seminars, Regional Meetings,Website and Management Skills Training.

Pharmacy Management is about to enter an exciting period of further development and is looking to become even closer to the needs of Pharmacy “at the coal face”. Each of the four home nations has several major initiatives to deliver a Pharmacy profession which can make an even greater contribution to medicines management and patient care.

Accordingly, Pharmacy Management is looking to appoint a team of “PHARMACY MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT OFFICERS” in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The positions will be
concurrent with the holders NHS commitments’ and will attract a professional honorarium.
 
Key aspects of the post responsibility will be:-
 
  • Ensure that all pharmacists in Secondary Care and Primary Care who wish to receive a free copy of the journal Pharmacy Management do so.
  • Act as a central liaison point for the commissioning of articles via the Editor in Pharmacy Management Journal and website.
  • Nominate potential contributors to the publication/website.
  • Feedback readership views to the main Board of Pharmacy Management.
  • Investigate, with the Pharmacy Management head office, potential Regional /National Seminar topics and contributors.
  • Attend one half day meeting a year with the whole team to evaluate progress and plot the direction of travel for both the Pharmacy Management journal and website.
  • Respond to occasional email requests to clarify understanding about healthcare developments.
 
It is intended to appoint a Development Officer in each of the Strategic Health Authorities in England, 2 Officers in Scotland, 1 Officer in Wales and 1 Officer in Northern Ireland.

Officers who contribute significantly to the development of Pharmacy Management will be considered for a position on the Editorial Board in due course.

This post would be suitable for Senior Pharmacists or Technicians in Primary and Secondary Care plus those involved in Community Pharmacy.
